HOLLOW Evolution Guide: Gillian to Vasto Lorde and Arrancar

The full Hollow evolution route is Hollow → Gillian (Menos/Menos Grande) → Adjuchas → Vasto Lorde. Mask removal branches into Arrancar when its confirmation prompt is available, including before Vasto Lorde.

Choose the section for your current form:

• Hollow: Fill your first Evolution Bar through event combat.
• Gillian / Menos: Stay alive and progress toward Adjuchas.
• Adjuchas: Fight toward Vasto Lorde.
• Vasto Lorde: Use your ultimate meter, or remove your mask.
• Arrancar: Continue toward sword skills and Resurrección.

Look beneath the skill slots at the lower right for your percentage bar. Hover over it to identify the Evolution Bar. Compare progress readings within your current form: a low percentage immediately after becoming Gillian belongs to the new stage.

Start as Hollow and follow Koshiro through First Meal, First Foe, and A Nearby Disturbance. These introductory quests lead to The Hunger, which asks you to fill the Evolution Bar and become Gillian. For the soul interactions, tutorial fight, and quest locations, follow the Hollow starter quest walkthrough.

1. Open EVENTS / MISSIONS → Sense A Disturbance after returning from the tutorial event.
2. Follow the event location and enter its Garganta when one appears. In a party, the leader opens the event Garganta; follow the group inside.
3. Defeat enemies in Hollow Ambush or Adjuchas Patrol and watch the Evolution Bar beneath your skills.
4. Fill the bar to 100%. The finishing kill triggers the Gillian transformation automatically.
5. Advance Koshiro’s dialogue and follow The Hunger’s updated Return to Koshiro Gilga objective. The dialogue’s Continue button advances the conversation after evolution.

Gillian is the tall form with a black, robe-like body and an elongated white mask. You gain access to Cero. If event enemies are overwhelming, bring a stronger player to help you fight through them. See the event entry and node guide for locating disturbances and tracking remaining targets.

Stay alive as Gillian/Menos until the Evolution Bar reaches 100%. Progress grows while you remain alive, and enemy kills also advance it. Dying as Menos resets this stage’s evolution progress, so protecting your health is the priority.

Choose an approach based on how safely you can fight:

• Wait somewhere safer if nearby enemies are likely to kill you. You can progress through this stage by staying alive without constantly fighting.
• Fight manageable events if you can survive them. Use Cero on R alongside ordinary melee attacks in Hollow Ambush or Adjuchas Patrol.

Adjuchas targets are worth considering when you can handle them. For a Gillian, one combat example moved the bar from 19% to 20% after a Hollow kill, while an Adjuchas kill moved it from 31% to 36%. Treat those as stage-specific examples when choosing targets, rather than fixed gains for every kill. Survival also contributes to your progress.

Allow the transformation to finish when the bar fills; it can happen while an event still has enemies remaining. If M1 stops working after becoming Adjuchas, re-equip Attack from hotbar slot 1, then use M1 again.

As Adjuchas, continue defeating event enemies until your Evolution Bar reaches 100%. Keep your mask on if you want to complete this stage before becoming Arrancar.

1. Use Sense A Disturbance to find another event.
2. Choose Adjuchas Patrol when you can handle its enemies. Its Adjuchas targets make it a practical progression choice; use Hollow Ambush when that is the more manageable fight.
3. Use Cero, melee attacks, and your other equipped skills to defeat targets and fill the bar.
4. If the bar reaches 100% while you are still Adjuchas, continue the current fight. The visible transformation can occur after a later kill, with the patrol still active.

A full bar and the transformation do not always appear together. You do not need to leave combat or finish the entire patrol first. Once your form changes, check your skill slots and the meter’s new purpose.

A SPIKED patrol has stronger enemies. Choose it only if you can manage the fight; you do not need to seek out that modifier for this route.

At Vasto Lorde, the percentage bar beneath your skills becomes ultimate charge. Filling it prepares your ultimate rather than another Hollow evolution. Hover over the meter to read its label; the Portuguese interface calls it ULTIMÁTICO.

1. Build the ultimate meter to 100%, when Bomba Grande / Big Bomb becomes ready.
2. Face your target and press R to release it.
3. The attack gathers blue energy into a large explosion and consumes the meter, dropping it to 0%.

In this Vasto Lorde layout, Cero moves to T and Bomba Grande occupies R. Check the skill names after evolving so you use the intended attack. An empty meter after Bomba Grande is spent ultimate charge, not lost evolution progress.

Mask removal turns you into a humanoid Arrancar with access to sword combat. Use it when you are ready to take that branch and the Arrancar prompt is available for your current Hollow form.

1. Press Ctrl+K.
2. Read the confirmation and check that it says “You will become an Arrancar.”
3. Choose Yes to proceed, or No to cancel and keep your current form.
4. Wait for the transformation animation to finish.
5. Check your weapon hotbar and updated skill names before continuing combat.

If you want to experience Vasto Lorde and its ultimate, reach that stage before removing your mask. Earlier mask removal is also possible, so reaching Vasto Lorde first is a choice about which stages you want to play through.

After conversion, equip your sword and continue leveling through quests and events. Cero remains available on R, sometimes labeled Zero in the Portuguese interface. Your T skill can differ: Arrancar layouts include Bala, Hierro / Ferro, or High-Speed Regeneration. Read your own skill bar before using it; previous C and V abilities may also disappear after conversion.
