HOLLOW Meditation Guide: How to Start and Handle Waiting

Meditation in HOLLOW leads to the inner challenge for Shikai or Resurrección. Prepare for your character’s route first, then start meditating and wait for the dialogue and scene change.

At a glance

Press N on PC to meditate. Soul Reapers should first receive their Squad Captain’s Officer-stage meditation instruction; Arrancars should finish their transformation and use level 25 as their preparation target. Arrancar wait estimates range from 30–45 minutes to about an hour. A Shikai wait of about an hour may be longer than necessary. If the Shikai transition stays stuck after preparation and waiting, try changing servers.

Check Your Route Before Pressing N

Your preparation depends on which release you are pursuing.

Soul Reaper → Shikai: Speak to your Squad Captain with E. Look for the dialogue confirming that you are an Officer and directing you to meditate to contact your Zanpakuto spirit. If you have not joined a squad yet, follow the Shikai progression guide to reach this stage.
Arrancar → Resurrección: Complete your Arrancar transformation first, then aim for level 25 before meditating. Use this as your preparation target for the inner-world challenge. If you still need to remove your mask, follow the Hollow evolution guide.

Start Meditation and Wait for the Transition

Press N to start meditating with the default PC controls.
Leave meditation running while you wait for contact with your spirit or inner Hollow.
Continue through the dialogue when it appears, then let the transition take you into the challenge area.

How long does meditation take?

Route	Waiting experience	How to use it
Arrancar / Resurrección	Estimates of 30–45 minutes and about one hour	Allow a substantial wait; reaching 45 minutes without a transition does not by itself mean meditation is broken.
Soul Reaper / Shikai	About one hour left meditating, possibly longer than necessary	Treat an hour as a rough planning allowance, not a required minimum.

These are approximate waiting experiences, not guaranteed trigger times. Watch for the dialogue and scene change rather than expecting the challenge to open at an exact minute.

If the Challenge Does Not Open

First, check that you have completed the preparation for your route, especially the Captain’s meditation instruction on the Shikai path. Then allow for the waiting estimates above before treating the transition as stuck.

For a Shikai transition that still will not open, try joining another server. Example outcome after switching servers: meditation progress carries over and the Shikai encounter opens. Treat this as a possible workaround.

Continue to Your Release Challenge

Entering the inner world is the next stage of the unlock. You still need to complete your route’s challenge and the steps that follow it.
